When you plant seeds in the garden, you don’t dig them up every day to see if they have sprouted yet. You simply water them and clear away the weeds; you know that the seeds will grow in time. Similarly, just do your daily practice and cultivate a kind heart. Abandon impatience and instead be content creating the causes for goodness; the results will come when they’re ready.

Help me move to Bloomington

Hey all,

Full disclosure: I’m asking for help!

Next week I’m moving to Bloomington, IN to be closer to my family. I’ve had five glorious years living in Washington, D.C. and I’m going to miss it here dearly. I have a lot of feelings about the move, but the two that rise to the top are sheer excitement (I love my homeland! I miss my family! I have great friends in Bloomington!) and sadness (I love D.C.! I love my friends and chosen family here!). It’s weird to have these at the same time, but it’s the honest truth that they’re happening simultaneously.

Here’s another fact: moving is expensive. After considering a lot of options and taking different things into account (financially, emotionally, stress-wise, logistically, etc.) I decided to get a moving truck. Luckily Meghan is going to help me move, so one of us can drive my car while the other operates the truck. What a dreamy best friend she is.

At the risk of appearing tacky, I’m asking for help in covering the cost of this truck, which will cost me $450 before gas. I know that in an ideal world I would have been budgeting for this truck for a long time, but I haven’t. I only decided to move less than two months ago. I quit my shitty job early for my own sanity and am not the least bit regretful about that decision. So I need help.

If you’re down to toss me a few bucks to help, I’d be extremely grateful. I promise to return the favor in the event that you’re ever in a tight spot by offering a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, a car to move your things in, a strong body to do some physical moving, or a couple future-earned bucks for your own truck. I’ve done it before (can provide references) and will do it again.

Donating via paypal might be easiest - click here to do that - but if that doesn’t work for you and you’re still interested in helping me out, just email me. emilyroberts at gmail dot com.

With lots of love and tender appreciation,

Emily

With the exception of a few brand new releases from friends’ bands, my entire record collection is comprised of thrift store scores. Yesterday morning I got real lucky.

Today was seriously one of the best days on record. Celebrating the existence of one of my favorite human beings, @nadiahmercer, by going on a day-long bike ride/tour de treats with these really wonderful people. Life is so good!
